How was the COVID-19 vaccine made so quickly?
COVID-19 is not the first coronavirus. Scientists were able to apply 50 years of research to make a safe and effective vaccine, which received support for accelerated production.
Normally, there may be 3,000–5,000 people in the actual study for producing a vaccine.
But, we had 73,000 people between the two studies – Moderna and Pfizer. So we have a lot more data than we normally have.
We know it's safe. We know it's effective given that we have a ton more data.
